The Financial Post published my op-ed here

On the fatal flaws in the Mathur application to the court to compel Ontario to increase its decarbonization target. The court application assumes that there is a glass dome over the entire Province of Ontario to keep Ontario’/s emissions in and above Ontario, and the remaining 99.7 % of global emissions outside of Ontario — obviously an absurd assumption. And obviously, an absurd application. But does the Ontario government really want to win this case? If so why don’t they let or require their lawyers do a better job of defending the application?

  1. Hi Andrew

I finally had a chance to read your column. It is another fine article. It is a sad mess that we are in with inept political leadership on the one hand, and an increasingly complex, uncertain, and cumbersome legal system for governments to operate within on the other hand.

I don’t see any signs of any improvements being underway to address the current political/legal malfunctions afflicting our country at this time.

I have been having difficulty recently keeping up e-mails and the daily news flow. I have been spending a lot of time these days helping an old friend and neighbour of ours who is suffering from dementia, diabetes and other medical problems, plus having a house that is badly in need of maintenance. Her only daughter lives in Mississippi, making it difficult for her to stay on top of issues.

I will get a break after Labor day when I go up for a week to our timeshare in Whistler.

I hope all is going well with the two of you

    Ken
